HNC – October 2018
Are you looking to carry out further education? Do you have an interest in Engineering?
Our new Higher National Certificate students will be starting their chosen courses at the end of October 2018 and there is still spaces left for you to join them. We offer three different HNC course options; Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Engineering Practice.
A HNC is Mechanical or Electrical Engineering will allow the student to improve their knowledge and skills in a variety of areas such as engineering prnciples, materials selection, dynamics, pneumatics and hydraulics, thermofluids, quality management, engineering communication, engineering mathematics, statics and strength of materials. These courses are designed to give the student training in a variety of engineering subjects and includes practical content which allows the student to increase their understanding and experience of engineering.
A HNC in Engineering Practice will give the student the opportunity to increase their knowledge and understanding of the key aspects of general engineering practice. While completing the course the student will examine materials and learn how to select the correct one, develop their skills in engineering measurement, reading drawings and specifications, explore the principles of mechanical engineering and apply these to solve problems involving linear motion, work and power, and the mechanical properties of engineering materials. The student will also explore engineering techniques to increase the value of products at the lowest possible cost and look at what is involved in planning and production control, quality management, Health & Safety, and risk assessment.
Please note that the ideal student should have at least a mathematics qualification of SCQF Level 6.
