Scottish Apprenticeship Week 2025

Scottish Apprenticeship Week 2025, held from 3rd to 7th March, was a celebration of the value and impact of apprenticeships in Scotland.  Throughout the week, we actively engaged with students, job seekers, and employers, hosting and participating in a range of events designed to promote work-based learning and career development.

Talk on Modern Apprenticeships at Dyce Academy

On 4th March, Gillian Burnett delivered a presentation on Modern Apprenticeships to approximately 50 S4 pupils at Dyce Academy.  The session aimed to inform pupils about apprenticeship opportunities, highlighting the benefits of work-based learning and encouraging them to consider this pathway for their future careers.

Tullos Training Careers Fair and Drop-in Session

Continuing the week’s events, we hosted a Careers Fair on 5th March at our premises on Craigshaw Drive, Aberdeen.  The event attracted around 300 visitors, including prospective apprentices, parents/guardians and industry professionals.  Attendees had the opportunity to explore the training facilities, interact with current apprentices and network with employers offering apprenticeship positions in 2025.  Exhibitors at the event included Developing the Young Workforce (DYW) North East, Skills Development Scotland, Aberdeenshire Council Foundation Apprenticeships, SECTT, Richard Irvin FM, SLB, Archer UK Limited, Legasea, TEXO, NHS Grampian, Hutcheon Services Limited, CAN Group, FES FM, Sulzer GTA, Celeros Flow Technology, IPS (Aberdeen) Ltd, Acteon Geoservices and Barratt North Scotland.

In addition to the careers fair, we organised a drop-in session later that evening, providing attendees with personalised guidance on apprenticeship programmes and the opportunity to undertake their aptitude test to join their Employer Pairing Database.

Participation in ApprenticeFEST Aberdeenshire

On 6th March, we participated in the ApprenticeFEST Aberdeenshire event at Ellon Academy Community Campus.  Organised by DYW North East, this event served as a platform for young individuals, parents and educators to engage directly with local companies offering apprenticeships and to gain insights from regional training providers.  The event aimed to raise awareness of apprenticeships and to gain insights from regional training providers.  The event aimed to raise awareness of apprenticeship opportunities in the North East, allowing attendees to discuss various apprenticeship roles across multiple industry sectors and understand the qualifications involved.

Through these events, we demonstrated our commitment to promoting apprenticeships, providing valuable information, and fostering connections between aspiring apprentices and industry professionals.
